MIAMI PTO MEETING MINUTES
February 1, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm. The minutes from January’s PTO Meeting and Budget Report were distributed.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Effective 2-2-10, efforts will be made to reduce students going into the classrooms before the start of school. There will be allowances for the students working
on the computers in the morning. The school is taking part in Hats off for Haiti. By donating $1 students can wear a hat to school on February 5. The Bond issue election will take place in
conjunction with Math/Science Night at Miami on February 23. Please come out enjoy this event and cast your vote. The second postcard party for the bond issue will take place on
February 9 starting at 6:30pm at the Italian Cultural Center. Please make plans to attend as your support is appreciated. If the bond passes, Miami will receive $150,000 for playground
equipment. Plans are to add a 1/8 track, benches, trash cans, exercise equipment such as a sit-up bench. There were catalogs for parents to view and offer suggestions for playground
equipment.
STAFF REPORT: There was no staff report.
TREASURER REPORT: Beth Bisson reviewed January’s Budget Report. Currently there are more expenses than income. It is expected that the budget will even out as the school year
ends.
Peggy Miklas made a motion to pass January’s Budget Report and PTO minutes for 2010. Ed Klotz seconded the motion. The motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS:
Chuck E. Cheese Night: Shelley Knoche reported a lot families attended and had a good time. It was suggested to continue this event the same time next year.
Movie Night: Patty Tench reported the turn out was good. The noise level was minimized as Mr. Bisson discussed with everyone before starting the movie the expectation of treating this
event like the regular movie theater. The next movie night will be in March and coincides with another event at Miami.
Box Tops: The 1st round of box tops collection went well. Over 7000 box tops were collected and the top class was 4th grade. They received a pizza party for their efforts. The 2nd round
of box top collecting is currently underway.
NEW BUSINESS:
McDonald’s Night: Rachel Puszcz reported this event will take place February 10 from 5-7pm.
Little Caesars Pizza Kits: Beth Bisson and Shelley Knoche reported this event will take place starting February 22 is offered as a service to Miami families.
Kids ONLY Night Out: Samantha Heasley reported this is a new event for Miami where families may sign-up their school age children for an evening of games, crafts and a movie along
with pizza, chips, and pop. More information to come.
Bowling Night: Ed Klotz discussed this event will take place March 7 from 11am to 1pm at Sunnybrook Lanes. It was announced a flyer will be sent home with Miami students soon.
My School’s Cool: Carla Grunwaldt discussed this event has begun and families can turn in receipts from purchases at Lakeside Mall either at Miami or at the mall in the designated area.
Information for turning in receipts will be sent home soon.
PTO Survey: During parent/teacher conferences the PTO will have a table set up for parents to complete a survey on the past, present, and future events sponsored by the PTO. Your
feedback will be appreciated and each family that completes a survey will receive a complimentary gift.
Spirit Wear: Bob Carroll reported a good number of orders were turned in.
Peggy Miklas made a motion to adjourn the PTO Meeting. Carla Grunwaldt seconded the motion. The motion passed.
